The University of Miami English Department, O, Miami Poetry Festival, and Sinking City Magazine invite you to attend “Before It Sinks Into The Sea: Micro-Eulogies For Miami,” an interactive flash fiction experiment and climate change awareness event.
Part poetry reading, part micro-memoir generator, and part eulogy for the city that we love, this event challenges participants to create a collective memory of Miami’s halcyon days by writing 100 word "goodbyes" to the places and experiences of the city that they love most.
Participants are encouraged to share their micro-memoires with those attending, as well as to make audio and video recordings of their eulogies. Whether you want to compose and read your own micro-eulogy, share a short text by a Miami writer about the city, or just come by and listen for a while, everyone is welcome.
The event takes place on Thursday, April 19, at Rock Plaza on the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami, from 2pm to 4pm.
