Please join us in the Frost Museum of Science planetarium for a very special O, Miami Poetry Festival initiative.
“Planetary Poems” is a project created by O, Miami and the Frost Museum of Science, in collaboration with Topos Graphics and The Library of Congress Poetry and Literature Center, to animate the work of United States Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith inside the unique space of the planetarium.
Designed by Topos Graphics, each animated poem, accompanied by Smith's voice, is "drawn as a constellation" onto Frost Planetarium’s night sky, creating a completely original reading experience.
In addition the unveiling of the animations, the evening also features:
· Live readings of the Tracy K. Smith poems used for the project
· A discussion with Rob Casper, Head of the Library of Congress Poetry and Literature Center
· A demonstration of the planetarium’s capabilities by Jorge Perez-Gallego and a reading by poet Roger Reeves
During the month of April, "Planetary Poems" will play in between shows at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science planetarium.
However, this unveiling is your ONLY chance to see the animations with Tracy K. Smith's voice.
