Sonnet Boom! Elevate Prize Celebration

Presented in partnership with Elevate Miami, Supporting Women Writers in Miami (SWWIM), YoungArts, and Miami Herald.

In honor of National Poetry Month and the O, Miami Poetry Festival, Sonnet Boom! is gathering the city’s literary and cultural community for an evening of poetry, pride, and shared celebration.

For the past two months, Miamians have been writing love poems to their city - verses shaped by migration, memory, salt air, heat, resilience, and joy. On April 8, those words will take the stage.

Join us for poetry readings and awards, preceded by artfully crafted small plates and elevated cocktails.

Winners and finalists from Sonnet Boom and Sonnet Youth will share their work aloud, transforming personal tributes into a collective expression of belonging. The evening will also feature the announcement of micro-grants supporting Miami’s broader literary ecosystem, honoring the organizations and collaborators who help poetry thrive across our city.

Set inside the luminous YoungArts Jewel Box, Sonnet Boom! An Evening of Love Poems for Miami is a celebration of Miami’s voices - bold, layered, multilingual, and alive. An evening to honor the poems, the poets, and the city that made them.
