Saturday, April 18, 2026

5:30pm

Koubek Center
2705 SW 3rd St, Miami, FL 33135

A documentary film featuring Oscar Fuentes directed by Aaron Glickman.

Poetry City is a film offering an intimate and sweeping exploration of Miami-Dade County’s vibrant literary landscape. In Poetry City, local writer Oscar Fuentes, known as "The Biscayne Poet," serves as a guide into a community that is often overshadowed by parties, loud music, and bright lights to reveal a bubbling underside of ideas and meaning. For thirty years, Oscar Fuentes has been seen all over town writing typewriter poems that capture Miami in words and rhythm, and that offer insight and illumination into the city beyond its perceived glamor.

Poetry City
captures a multi-faceted view of Miami’s poetry scene and features readings and performances by several of Miami’s poets: 2024-25 Miami-Dade County Poet Laureate Caridad Moro-Gronlier; Miami-Dade County first Poet Laureate and Presidential Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco; Books & Books owner and Miami Book Fair co-founder (along with Dr. Eduardo Padrón) Mitchell Kaplan; Miami-Dade County Poetry Ambassador Nicole Tallman; Pulitzer Prize finalist and MacArthur Fellow Campbell McGrath; plus spoken word poets and artists Arsimmer McCoy and Darius Daughtry, among many others. The film also captures the coming together of poets at a community-wide photoshoot, a celebration of ZipOdes, and more.
