Dark Sky to Dawn: A Walk into Writing, a New Day

At the height of International Dark Sky Week, this guided silent walk under the stars will lead participants to a serene waterfront, where we’ll watch the sunrise together and enjoy a quiet writing session inspired by darkness, light, phases of the day, nature, nocturnal animals, and more themes related to Dark Sky Week.

The goal of this walk & workshop is to use the passage from night to day, including the body in its sensory possibilities, to bring a new poetic vigor to participants. With the support of prompts and facilitation by project manager Lúcia Leão, we’ll access and witness the beauty of newness in language in surprising ways and build a new vocabulary for expressing the transit between the interior and the exterior world.

Lúcia Leão is a translator, interpreter, and bilingual writer originally from Rio de Janeiro. Her first poetry collection was published in Brazil in 2024.
