LOBA
Upper Eastside
Please join us, Monday, April 17th for an evening of dinner and poetry.
Jai-Alai Books is hosting a fundraising dinner at LOBA on the occasion of re-releasing Eight Miami Poets, an anthology of young, Miami-based poets hailing from Cuba, Haiti, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and beyond.
In describing the book, Mia Leonin writes, “Although Miami has long been an outpost for immigrants, exiles, outliers, and adventurers, the eclectic landscapes, arresting images, and quirky voices of these poems confirm that the Magic City continues to be a sanctuary for poetic imagination and language play.”
Dinner guests enjoy a specially curated menu inspired by the poetry within the book. Hear readings from poets Annik Adey-Babinski, Zain Aslam, Yaddyra Peralta, Cherry Pickman, Nick Vagnoni, and JV Portela. The dinner format is family style and includes seafood (octopus) and locally grown produce.
LOBA serves up a local, farm-to-table and market-driven menu influenced by rustic, Latin and Southern country cooking. With its book-lined walls and rustic feel, LOBA’s cozy interior serves as the perfect space to dine among poets and writers. Your ticket purchase helps us continue making books of and for Miami.
There are two ticket tiers:
Beverages sponsored by Perrier, Lagunitas Brewing, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka
