"Where Do We Go From Here?" Odes to Music That Keeps Us Alive

Monday, April 20, 2026

8-10pm

Superblue Miami
1101 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127

$15

A project by Sara Gomez.

Threshold Singers, a group of local singers offering tender melodies to grieving communities in South Florida, joins forces with a selection of local poets to fill Superblue’s Pulse Topography room with live poetry and songs celebrating life, love, and connection.

Guests will be prompted to silence phones and devices and enjoy a cup of tea before taking a seat under an installation of 3,000 lightbulbs flickering with individual heartbeats.

Once the performance begins, selected poets will take the mic to share their Odes to Music. Threshold Singers will respond with a short song from their bedside repertoire, offering the poet and audience a soothing sound bath. A new poet will take the mic, and the process will repeat until the night’s end.

"Where Do We Go From Here?" is a question many ask in relation to life after death. Where do our loved ones go, where will we go when we cross that threshold, and will we ever meet again? These existential wonderings conjure up different emotional responses in all of us. Though we don’t have many answers, this performance invites all to embrace the healing and celebratory power of words—written and sung—while grieving, wondering, and hoping together.

Some important notes:

This performance is dedicated to those who identify as suicide survivors: anyone who lives/has lived with suicidal ideation, has survived a suicide attempt, and/or the loss of a loved one to suicide. Mention of death, loss, and experience with mental illness are to be expected. Due to the potentially difficult subject matter, O, Miami will provide the services of a Licensed Social Worker on site for any instances where additional emotional support is needed.

This event is produced in partnership with Born This Way Foundation. O, Miami and Born This Way Foundation invite all to complete the Be There Certificate, a free, self-paced learning experience designed to increase mental health literacy and provide the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to safely support anyone who may be struggling with their mental health.

Please contact sarita@omiami.org with any questions or concerns.
