Rising Waters Poetry Flotilla

April 10, 2016

Matheson Hammock

The Rising Waters Poetry Flotilla invites you to join in a celebration of ours city's despotic future by participating in an open mic on the open water.

Come along for a ride down the canals that crisscross Miami and help to keep it above water by reminding the residents who live along these waterways of the looming threat of climate change. How will we do this? By reading ecologically themed poetry, making music, and taking part in a unique spectacle, of course.

Performances by Wilson Slayer and Afrobeta take place the activation sites.

GUIDELINES

BYOB: Bring Your Own Boat, or rent a kayak at Matheson Hammock. Please bring up to 5 minutes of your favorite, or your own original poetry, prose, or music. Any and all musical instruments are heartily welcome. Bring body paint and bug spray. (Kevin Costner may or may not be in attendance.)

Please note the total route is 7 miles. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and pack sunscreen.
