Poems for Bread
Presented in partnership with Zak the Baker

All month long, O, Miami & Zak the Baker want to know: What’s South Florida’s regional cuisine? What grows in our alkaline and motley soil? Who picks the avocados? Who cooks the collards? What cultures, rituals, and memories season our food?

We believe that Miami, and the rest of South Florida, has a regional cuisine just as unique and compelling as any other in the world. To nurture and celebrate this idea, we’ve teamed up—for the second year in a row—to create a month-long “Poems for Bread” trade.

Here’s how to participate during the month of October:

  • Share 1 haiku with us and we’ll share 1 loaf of bread. 1 Poem = 1 Bread.
  • Poem must be written and submitted at the bakery during hours of operation.
  • Poem must be on the theme of Miami food.
  • Limited to 1 trade per day (while supplies last).
  • Available all month long with the exception of Oct 3-5, 12, 16-19, and 24-26.

To all those who live here, work here, visit here, or are connected with Miami in some way, we want to hear from YOU, “What is Miami food?”
