The first official O, Miami Poetry Festival was a press conference on morning of April 1, 2011 in the courtyard at the Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center Ziff Ballet Opera House.
Founder P. Scott Cunningham read, "A Resolution for a Poetic Miami-Dade," to officially dedicate the month to poetry, followed by a banner drop with heralding musicians led by Sam Hyken.
