Graveyard Poetry: A Workshop
a project by Manny Saints and Kira Rosemarie

$15 | RSVP Here

Join us for Graveyard Poetry, a poetry workshop set within the historic Miami City Cemetery. Inspired by the 18th-century Graveyard School of poetry, participants will explore themes of mortality, nature, history, and social commentary while drawing inspiration from the cemetery itself—its historical significance to Miami and personal experiences of visiting this contemplative space.

The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the history of the Miami Cemetery and the Graveyard Poetry genre. Afterward, participants will have 45 minutes to explore the cemetery in search of inspiration for their own poems. The group will gather again on blankets set on the cemetery lawn, where participants will be invited to share their poems out loud, if they choose.

Participants are encouraged to dress in black for the occasion and bring a blanket to sit on.
