Breakbeat Poets

Inspired by The BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop (Haymarket, 2015), a poetry anthology by and for the hip-hop generation, this performance and workshop brings together youth in Miami for a two-day engagement.

The open-mic show on April 17 features performers from local organization Path to Hip-Hop, as well as Miami artist and activist Sekajipo. The show is for all ages, free, and open to the public.

“It’s Where You’re At” is a cypher-style workshop on April 18 based on the aesthetics and cultural context of the RC Cola Plant, Wynwood, and Miami graffiti culture.

Participants are given writing prompts and then circle up cypher-style to share what they’ve written.
